{"id":825,"date":"2025-08-26T15:11:46","date_gmt":"2025-08-26T20:11:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kcgrotto.caves.org\/?p=825"},"modified":"2025-08-26T15:11:46","modified_gmt":"2025-08-26T20:11:46","slug":"22-24-august-2025-orientation-to-cave-rescue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kcgrotto.caves.org\/?p=825","title":{"rendered":"22-24 August 2025 &#8211; Orientation to Cave Rescue"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span class=\"gmail-il\">Trip<\/span> report by Jason Jakary<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">NCRC OCR this past weekend, based out of the Great Saltpeter Cave Preserve in KY.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Friday 8\/22: 0600-1800<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Drive out to Mt Vernon, KY area and set up camp at GSP<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Saturday 8\/23: 0800-1700<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Classroom lectures<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Litter packing and movement practice above ground<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Sunday 8\/24: 0800-1500<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: small;\">In-cave mock rescue; the cave used was Climax Cave, not GSP<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Three mock patients: Lost but able to walk out with assistance, hypothermic that developed anaphylactic shock once fed food and had to be carried out partially, and unresponsive that needed to be carried out the whole way&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Sunday 8\/24: 1530-1800<\/span><\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Myself, along with three members of the Greater Cincinnati Grotto explored a small local cave utilizing SRT&nbsp;<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Monday 8\/25: 0600-1800<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Return drive back to KC<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Overall a fantastic experience, I was able to befriend a ton of cavers from all over the NCRC Central Region and we&#8217;re trying to plan future caving trips.
